How to Take CBD

Go Low & Slow
Everyone is unique. What might work for one person may not work for another. That is what makes CBD challenging to dose. We recommend starting low (7-10 mg) and slow (once per day), see how you feel and add as necessary. The most typical dose is 15-20 mg of broad or full spectrum extract product per day. More for severe issues. Sometimes people will take one dose in the morning, one dose in the evening before bed. Give it a few days to a couple weeks to work with your system and adjust to your needs.
No known side effects
There are no known side effects of CBD. If you take more than your body needs, it will flush through your system. Some people report if they take too much (and are not taking it for sleep), they sometimes get tired.
Can I take the hemp extract topically?
Yes! In fact, the Oregon Mint Hemp Extract is a great go-to topically, especially if you are out of our salve. Peppermint has wonderful analgesic properties that can support pain ailments externally.
How do I dose for my pets?
Animals have very efficient endocannabinoid systems. We recommend 1 mg CBD per 10 lb of body weight for dogs. For horses, this is much less. We have seen relief typical with just 25-75 mg of broad to full spectrum extract products for horses. Be careful with dogs who are typically jumpy by nature. We have seen in about 20% of cases that giving jumpy dogs too much CBD (more than what we recommend here), can actually increase excitement and energy. Higher doses of CBD are usually more effective for senior age animals who need pain relief to help increase mobility and energy and improve quality of life in senior years.
